In 2021 my best friend Keita told me he was going to propose. He was terrified. I told him she would say yes. She said yes. I said yes. The next morning I bought a used keyboard from Mercari for ¥8,000. I found a teacher. I did not tell Keita. I told him I was "working on something." For three years I have practiced every day. Thirty minutes minimum. Often more. I have gone through four teachers. I have cried once from frustration, specifically during a section of the left hand in measure 34. I have the calluses. I have the muscle memory. I have the piece 90% memorized. The wedding is May 3rd. The piece is "Clair de Lune" by Debussy. I need $5 to cover my lesson this week and also I need someone to know this is happening because I have been carrying it alone for three years and it is getting very heavy. 🙏
